Another Victory For Freedom Of The Press On DelMarVa

JUST IN: The editor of the Salisbury News Blog, Joe Albero, has been exonerated in the defamation lawsuit against him. Former Salisbury mayor, Barrie Tilghman, failed in her bid to muzzle the blog whose reporting exposed her administrations failures and caused her hand picked successor to lose in his bid to become mayor.

This marks the second recent ruling that protects freedom of speech in the blogosphere on DelMarVa. The politics of cronyism are being eclipsed by power of citizen reporters and their blogs.

Thank you Joe for taking a stand. Your win is our win too.

The 4/17 posting made it sound like Dale Mumford was already the winner. No mention of needing to go out and vote. So there we were being given incorrect information (again). The 4/25 posting corrected this but not all of us read this on a timely basis. I didn't bother to vote because the 4/17 post implied we didn't need to. Try and get it right next time!!!

Anonymous: According to our charter Dale Mumford was our commissioner by the 17th because he was unopposed. He still needed to get at least one vote on the 25th to make it final and official. I was reporting on the situation as it stood legally.

The town manager's comments about write ins raised concerns and a post went up about voting. Also, a number of people contacted their neighbors over the weekend and the result was a large turnout for Dale. You have not been given incorrect information on Toblog. Any confusion about the election has to be attributed to comment from town hall about write ins as well as earlier comments about voter registration.
